Ruidoso Fire Relief

US Eagle Blog Jun 21, 2024

As the devastating Ruidoso fires and floods continue to affect the community, ARNIA Foundation and US Eagle are stepping up to make a difference by donating $5,000 to the Community Foundation’s Emergency Action Fund and $5,000 to the Southern Community Foundation respectively.

In addition to these contributions, we are opening the opportunity for our members, non-members, and employees to make donations. Your generosity will make a significant difference in supporting our community during this time.

Here are some of the resources for the Ruidoso fires should you or a family member require assistance.

Workplace and Employment Assistance

  • Unemployment Insurance: If your employment has been affected by the Southfork or Salt Fires, the first step is to file a standard Unemployment insurance claim, either online at www.jobs.state.nm.us, by phone at 1-877-664-6984, or in person at a Workforce Connection Center. If you are found ineligible for standard unemployment benefits, disaster unemployment assistance may be available through the NM Department of Workforce Solutions.
  • 12th Judicial Court Pro Bono Committee- Resources for Work Visa Holders: we have heard that many folks who have been impacted by the fire have immigration questions (e.g. what impact will the loss of a job due to the fire have on a work visa, etc.). We have two immigration law firms willing to offer free legal consultations to those who need assistance with immigration issues caused by the fires. Email: 12thjudicialprobonocommittee@gmail.com

General Resources

Support for Kids

  • Learner’s Chess Academy: Providing free chess activities for displaced children. If any evacuated families from Ruidoso are in Albuquerque and have elementary or middle school-aged kids who would enjoy attending Learners Chess Academy chess camp, we are offering them free and flexible admission to our summer chess camps. We are in Albuquerque and Santa Fe this week, and Albuquerque and Rio Rancho next week. Learn More
